FAQs
How does HOMEE work?
HOMEE (pronounced ‘homie’) is a platform which connects people looking for a room with those who have one to offer, whether you're a landlord, tenant or just someone with a spare room
How do I list a room on HOMEE?
Sign up, create a profile and hit ‘Post a New Listing’. It takes less than 5 minutes if you’ve got your photos and info ready!
Share details about the space and who lives there, so the right housemate can find you quicker. You’ll see profiles of people applying, making it easy to spot a good fit.
-
If you have a room to rent but don’t own the property, you’ll need to provide proof of address to confirm you currently live at the place you're listing (e.g. tenancy agreement or bank statement)
-
If you’re the landlord or property manager, you’ll need proof of ownership (like Land Registry docs).
How do I find a room on HOMEE?
Click ‘Find a Room’, set your filters (like location, price, bills, amenities), and start browsing. You’ll see both house and housemate details, so you can find a place that fits your budget and people who match your vibe. Just sign up, create a profile, and start messaging!

No! Creating a profile, browsing listings, and messaging other users is free although as we grow, we may introduce paid features in the future to enhance your experience.
How does HOMEE keep me safe?
Safety is a top priority at HOMEE. We're here to create a trusted space where you connect with real people. That’s why we use a secure third-party service (iDenfy) to verify every user’s identity. Verification is required to unlock full access to the platform. If you're posting a room, there are extra verification steps in place:
-
Users: If you have a room to rent but don’t own the property, you’ll need to provide proof of address to confirm you currently live at the place you're listing (e.g. tenancy agreement or bank statement. This is also verified through iDenfy.
-
Landlords, property managers and letting agents: you must provide documentation verifying ownership or the legal right to advertise the property (like Land Registry docs). We know these add a few extra steps but we hope you agree it’s better to have a space free of scams, spam, and bots!
While we monitor platform activity and provide safety guidance, like most platforms, we don’t independently verify, inspect or fact-check all user-generated content (such as listings and profiles posted on the platform). That’s why we strongly encourage you to do your own due diligence, including but not limited to physical checks, asking questions, request documentation, never sending money until you’ve viewed the property in person, and always trust your instincts.
If anything ever seems suspicious, you can report it to us directly at hello@homeehq.com
Can I sublet a room on HOMEE?
Yes, you can but you’ll need your landlord’s permission or confirmation that subletting is allowed under your tenancy agreement.
When posting a sublet, you’ll be asked to confirm you have approval by ticking ‘I have permission’, during the listing process.
Please note, HOMEE does not verify or fact-check sublet permissions. It’s your responsibility to ensure everything is in line with your agreement and above board.
What should I do if I feel unsafe or uncomfortable?
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. We encourage you to report anything suspicious (including listings, messages or other behaviour) by contacting our team at hello@homeehq.com . We take every report seriously and will investigate promptly.
HOMEE is here to support the initial connection stage, helping you discover potential homes and housemates. If something feels off when you are messaging someone about a room, to take your room or to buddy up, please report it to us. We’ll investigate and, if necessary, may remove listings or block users from the platform to keep the community safe.
We do not take responsibility for interactions or agreements made on or off the HOMEE platform. Users are advised to conduct their own due diligence, including people and property details, and to be cautious when communicating or making payments. Any issues arising after leaving the platform are outside of our jurisdiction, and users should exercise caution and seek appropriate legal advice when necessary.
Can I report a listing or user?
Yes, absolutely. If you come across anything suspicious, misleading or malicious, please let us know. You can report it by emailing us at hello@homeehq.com with all the relevant details. We take reports seriously and will look into it as soon as possible to help keep HOMEE a safe, trusted space for everyone.
How can I make my room listing stand out?
The best listings are honest, detailed and give a real feel for both the space and the people living there! Here’s what to include:
-
Property basics: Type of home, number of rooms, rent per room, bills, move-in date, and contract length.
-
Location perks: Nearby transport, shops, gyms, parks, nightlife - what makes your area great?
-
The room: Size, furnishings, natural light, and storage - help people imagine living there.
-
House vibe: Is it relaxed, social, quiet, creative?
-
Current housemates: Who’s already living there? Age, interests, routines - give enough context to find a good match.
-
Photos: Bright, tidy, and include both the room and shared spaces.
-
Any quirks or house rules: Pets? Smoking? Guests? Live-in landlord? Being upfront saves everyone time.
HOMEE makes this as easy as possible with tickboxes, but you can also use the comment boxes to share extra details and personality, it makes all the difference!
How do I update or remove my listing?
Just head to your profile and go to ‘My Listings’. To take your listing down, click the three dots and select ‘Close’. To make any changes, click ‘Edit Listing’ and update the details as needed. Easy!
Can I attend a HOMEE event to meet housemates in person?
